Tasting Notes The 2009 Pinot gris, Vitae Springs Vineyard has concentrated spice notes and a sense of chili pepper-like heat along with Asian pear, kiwi, orange peel and sweet citrus blossom aromas. Apple, pear, white flowers and pie spice flavors evolve into minerality. Backed by fresh acidity, its fruit is balanced with spice and minerals. Seductive aromas of mineral, pear and apple open up to a mouth-filling mid-palate swimming with tropical fruit flavors and hints of spice. The aroma begins with floral notes of honeysuckle and honey followed by notes of ripe pears. The flavors show a crisp acidity, lively ripe pears, apples, honey notes and a hint of citrus. The wine texture is rich and round with light spritziness. The finish is oily and long with lasting spiciness and fruitiness. This Pinot gris is appropriate for drinking now, but will open up and soften over the next year.
