Saint Laurent Winery
2006 Reserve Merlot View Label
  • Syrah Saint Laurent Winery (Malaga, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Craig Mitrakul

It was co-fermented with Viognier to add floral notes and complexity yet still has the dark berry and smokiness relative to the varietal. Barrel aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels. Limited production.

    Seia Wine Cellars
2005 Syrah-Clifton Hill Vineyard View Label
Seia Wine Cellars (Seattle, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Rob Spalding
  • We looked to build on the experience of our gold-medal winning 2003 Syrah in 2004. A dark wine, more purplish than ruby-red, features aromas of jammy berries, white pepper and violets. The mouthfeel is smooth and plush with blackberry jam, a little chocolate and some earthiness on the finish.

    Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery
    2004 Ethos Syrah
Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery (Woodinville, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Bob Bertheau
  • “As the pinnacle tier for Chateau Ste. Michelle, all Ethos wines offer layers of complexity and the Syrah is no exception. As we tasted this one for descriptive notes, we went on and on...but if you have to hold us to a few...the wine delivers aromas and flavors of dark plum, boysenberry, cocoa, roasted coffee and caramel with a full, round, chewy palate and a long finish. The wine is fruit forward, yet incredibly layered, making it a versatile match for almost any pasta or meat dish. However, m... ...read more

    Gilbert Cellars
    2009 Syrah View Label
Gilbert Cellars (Yakima, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Justin Neufeld
  • Aromatics of blueberry, dark plum, apple wood smoke, savory herbs, and cinnamon spice rise from this elegant Syrah from our family's Doc Stewart Vineyard. Sweet dark cherry fruit and subtle thyme flavors dance gracefully with accents of smoke, spice and citrus for a rich gracious palate.
Savory and incipiently complex on the palate, it was aged for 19 months in 42% new French oak.
  • Acclaim: 92 - This dense, chewy red is jumping with blackberry, dark plum, clove and white pepper flavors, finishing smooth and polished. Expressive, displaying style and grace. Drink now through 2017. --Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator 90 - The 2009 Syrah Doc Stewart Vineyard (bottled just 1 week before I tasted it) was aged for 19 months in 42% new French oak. It displays an enticing nose of smoked meat, game, leather, and blueberry. Savory and incipiently complex on the palate, the wine has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will be at its best through 2019. It is a very good value. --Jay Miller, Wine Advocate

    Nefarious Cellars
2006 Syrah - Riverbend Vineyard, Wahluke Slope
Nefarious Cellars (Chelan, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Dean Neff and Heather Neff
  • Aromatically layered with chocolate, pepper, and dark red fruit. This is a brilliant food wine with enough acidity and grippy tannin to hold up over time. It is a big, black cherry bomb with a little bit of the earthiness we love about Syrah and a hint of floral of from our standard recipe Viognier co-ferment. This is a serious wine that will blow you away today and tomorrow.... just hold on.
