  • Appellation: Yakima Valley
  • Lemberger
Paradisos del Sol Winery, Inc. (Zillah, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Paul Vandenberg
  • Under 10 Buck Red. Basic, simple, pure essence of the Lemberger grape. Made in a big tank, no frills. Great for washing down a home-grilled burger. Makes a wonderful wine cooler. Our Monday through Thursday—no special occasion—wine. Buy several cases ’cause it’s good and cheap. Thanks to Connie, Charlie, and their crew for the sweat in the vineyard. Same wine as the previous “10 Buck Red,” just a more descriptive name!

    2008 2008 Lemberger-Old Vine View Label
  • Appellation: Yakima Valley
Kana Winery (Yakima, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Mark Wysling
  • From the old block of Baufránkisch (“old vine” Lemberger) from the respectable Red Willow Vineyard, planted in 1979, which was 3 years barrel aged in equal parts French and American oak, 42% new. It shows flavors and aromas of dried cherry, cocoa/mocha and thyme and finishes in toasted vanilla, chalky tannins and generous acids. This could be the ultimate pizza and Italian pasta wine. Will age well as has been typical for Kana’s past “Old Vines” programs.

    2008 2008 Lemberger
  • Appellation: Yakima Valley
Whidbey Island Vineyard (Langley, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • A delicious, productive and cold hardy grape variety from Germany and Austria that thrives in eastern Washington, which is the only place in the US it is grown. While its name doesn't exactly make it fly off the shelf, don't be put off, it is well worth a try. It is a medium bodied wine with spicy black pepper, toasty oak, and creamy cherry and blackberry flavors. Try it with grilled foods, lamb, pasta or pizza, or BBQ salmon. Bright and rambunctious when young, silky and complex with age. Aged ... ...read more
