2007 was a cool year, with harvest two weeks later than usual. We picked the fruit based on our desired flavor profiles and delivered some very flavorful, bright, and floral Chardonnay. The cool ripening period provided slow even ripening and optimal flavor maturity. This is our third release of our Meritage (by definition, a blend of two or more of the classic Bordeaux grapes). Cabernet Franc from our top vineyard blocks adds a rich, spicy complexity to this wine, balanced with select percentages from our blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The first two releases were great successes, and we feel this is a very worthy heir.
