The Viognier is a new wine for us this year. We are very excited about it. The grapes come from the Applegate Valley in Southern Oregon. It is produced in a dry style and really carries the peachy, apricot aromas. This wine has stayed in stainless steel and has a very clean crisp finish to it. The Viognier is a great summer wine. It pairs nicely with light appetizers or a light grilled fish. We have a very limited production on this wine and don’t expect it to be available very long.

We dedicate our first label and premier Claret to William Matney, who in 1897 built the farmhouse we live in today and farmed the land on which we planted our vines. This home stands as a testament to his standards. Our Claret is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc. 2005 in particular gave way to early summer rains and cooler than normal temperatures in the fall, yielding near perfect acid/sugar ratios. Vixen is characterized by her very dark beautiful color. Smoky, rich blackberry and hints of ripe black cherry on the nose. Close your eyes and experience the subtle complexity of the Rhone Rogue Valley, as Vixen finishes with roasted espresso. A musty Gruyere or maple smoked Vermont Cheddar will do nicely with this fox.

Our estate grown 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were carefully hand picked and harvested at the peak of ripeness, then aged 22 months exclusively in French oad barrels before bottling.
