2006 Coda
Appellation: Red Mountain
Petit Verdot Blend
Blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot
Cadence Winery
(Seattle, WA)
--
(Winery Info & All Wines)
Winemaker: Ben Smith
The wine is a deep purple red. The nose bursts out of the glass with wild Petit Verdot Raspberry, floral and dusty spice aromas. The palate conveys the same flavors, but builds in complexity and deepens throughout the finish. This is juicy, deep, and powerful, and quite a mouthful. The tannins are present yet refined. Decant and enjoy now or hold a few to see where they go. With the quality of these three vineyards and a juicy dollop of Petit Verdot, Coda is a steal.

Petit Verdot Blend
Blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc,
Basalt Cellars

(Winery Info & All Wines)
A unique and wonderful blend of two very different grapes. The 2004 Cabernet Franc had intense varietal character but did not have adequate structure to stand on it's own. This lot was cellar aged in small oak barrels for 30 months. The Petite Verdot was slightly overwhelming by itself, with big tannins and intense flavors. However, when the two were paired together, it was a match made my divine rite. You will want to get this soon, as it is a small lot and is going quickly. Pair with rich red ...

53% Petit Verdot, 21% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot , aged 10 months in French oak barrels. Bottled in July 2007. Released in January 2008. Nose – True to its Virginia roots, this wine displays hints of tobacco. Slight cedar and black sherry scents add to its complex nose.Taste – A wine with mild tannins and medium weight, it exhibits rich berry flavors and should age gracefully for several years Food Pairing – Will pair well with pork, lamb and veal dishes.

Petit Verdot Blend

Callaghan Vineyards
(Elgin, AZ)
--
(Winery Info & All Wines)
Winemaker: Kent Callaghan
46% Petit Verdot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc. Refined nose of green herb, black pepper, cinnamon, cola, sausage and an earth component that is unique to Petit Verdot. Tighter than Padres in the mouth, more linear, but this has a core of singular flavor intensity. Built for the cellar, like Padres. An interesting pair to re-consider in a decade.
