The fruit for this wine came from the very sandy White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. The vines had to work extra hard resulting in concentrated and pure fruit rarely seen outside of Tuscany. Sangiovese - This wine comes from Paccielo Vineyard in Ramona and, as always, the fruit quality was excellent. The '07 Sangiovese is one of this year's stellar wines, with lots of fruit and very defined varietal characteristics of strawberry, blueberry and violets. This is a local favorite. We used new French oak for one of the barrels, and a neutral barrel with no oak in the other, and then blended the two during the second rack.
