    Agate Ridge Vineyard
    2009 Primitivo View Label
  • Appellation: Rogue Valley Agate Ridge Vineyard (Eagle Point, OR) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: B. Kiley Evans
  • Our 2009 Primitivo is an elegant, pure expression of Agate Ridge's unique terroir. Racy red raspberry and blueberry tones precede lithe red currant, cranberry and rhubarb flavors with a kiss of smoky oak. Well integrated acidity and balance give this gem a smooth elegant finish. Drink this tantalizing wine now but expect it to improve with cellaring for two to four years. Enjoy this wine with a bevy of food options but some of our favorites are pizza, rustic Italian cuisine and lamb.

2009 Primitivo View Label View Label
  • Appellation: Wahluke Slope Forgeron Cellars (Walla Walla, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla
  • Primitivo is a lesser known varietal that is closely related to the Zinfandel grape, however the wines they produce have very distinct differences. The fruit character is less jammy, the structure is more similar to old world wines, with rustic notes of earth and spice, as well as tamed fruit flavors. Incredible aromas of cherry wood, boysenberries, braised figs and a hint of white pepper. The mouth is big and chewy with flavors of roasted cocoa beans, bittersweet chocolate, dried berries, pumpk... ...read more

    Bray Vineyards
    2007 Primitivo View Label
  • Appellation: California Shenandoah Valley Bray Vineyards (Plymouth, CA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: John Hoddy
  • Research indicates that Primitivo and Zinfandel are genetically the same but are clones of the same variety and are not identical. The predominant theory is that the common ancestor to both is Crljenak originating in Croatia. The wine is rustic, deeply-colored, and highly extracted, with jammy, brambly black fruit flavors offset by aromas of rose petals and chocolate.
