Located in southeastern Washington, part of the larger Columbia Valley AVA. T Borders the Yakima Valley AVA on the north and the Columbia River on the south.  Elevations range from 200 feet above sea level in the south to 1,800 feet above sea level at the northern boundary.  Grapes planted in the south-facing slopes of the Horse Heaven Hills benefit from strong winds that arrive fom the west via the Columbia Gorge. Our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has a spicy nose, a mixture of orange blossom, jasmine and leather. The fruit is all red: currant, raspberry and cherry. Although there is more than 75% new oak on this wine, the fruit holds its own all the way, giving up a bit of toasted almond at the end.
