Fairly deep in color; obvious charred oak aroma with a good hit of grapey, ripe fruit notes, very good depth of fruit; medium bodied, nicely textured, layered; oaky; toasty flavors, perhaps a bit too much on the barrel side; long finish, softish tannins, good aftertaste. John Schumacher, Winemaker: Color - Rich garnet color. Nose is full of berries with hints of plum. Initial flavors of fruit in the mouth are full, smooth, soft, with hints of black cherry, slight plum, spicy, near cinnamon and clove characters, with white pepper falling particularly in the mid palate.

Claude Bobba: Color - Rich garnet color. Nose - Blackberry jam, cherry pie with a note of powdered chocolate, mild hint of sweet oak. Mouth - Elegant, slightly smokey character, black cherry, lots of fruit on mid palate. Good balance of fruit, oak and acid. Finishes with lots black and red fruit flavors mixed with a hint of black pepper and spice.
