Nose - Aromas of spice, oak and bright red fruits dominate and signify the intensity of this wine. Taste - Heavily extracted with blackberry and currant flavors. Nose – The classic Bordeaux aromatics of deep red fruits and spice with a hint of toast. Taste –After a year and half in the barrel, this wine has soft elegant flavors that are backed by rich tannins and oak. Food Pairing – As a classic Meritage of great depth and structure, this wine will age nicely for 5-10 years and can be paired with heavy beef dishes.

  • Blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Flying Fox Vineyard (Afton, VA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Made exclusively with grapes from vines that we planted, watch over and harvest from Flying Fox Vineyard. The vineyard is on a south slope in Afton, with rich soils and lots of sun. The 2005 vintage was aged in old and new French and American oak barrels for 15 months. The tannins in the Merlot are softened with our Cabernet Franc grapes. Fermented dry, with oak, cherry and spice flavors and aromas. Drink now or age up to five years. This wine is delightful with cheeses or red meats.
