2008 Stepping Stone Syrah
Appellation: Napa Valley
Winemaker: Jeff Keene
From the Carneros vineyards of Southern Napa, the 2008 Stepping Stone Syrah highlights the special nature of this region. The various combinations of terrain, geology and marine moderated temperatures provide unique winegrowing conditions. The results are wines with deeper, more stable color and mouth-filling, textural tannins, all with slightly more acidity and refreshing fruitiness. A dollop of generous Red Hills Grenache adds a warm roundness to the blend.

Cabernet Franc is a cantankerous variety. It’s a late ripener like Cabernet Sauvignon, but prefers a cooler climate than its cousin, which makes ripening this variety to perfection a challenge. As that risk is what it takes to make outstanding Cabernet Franc, we’re up to the challenge. To our sprightly Carneros 2008 Cabernet Franc we’ve added a dash of Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon to add a little punch to it’s brilliant freshness.
