2003 Sunfire I Tempranillo
Appellation: Amador County
Winemaker: Stewart Epstein
Our yield per acre is only 2 1/2 tons. This wine was fermented in open top containers and manually punched down at least 4 times a day. Following 3 days cold soaks, the fermentation lasted 8-10 days then the wines were put in a combination of new French and American oak. We used 3 coopers: Tonnellerie Billon Allier, Tonnellerie Vicard and Demptos Napa. Aged 24 months in cask with an additional 2 years bottle age before release.
