Winemaker David Fenech
|
David is a graduate of the University of California at Davis with a degree in Viticulture & Enology. Even before leaving UC Davis, David pursued his career in Amador County because of the dynamic wines emerging from the Sierra Foothill Region, a blend of old & new world styles of wines. David is adamant about keeping a balance in the vineyard and winery by merging the analytical approach of UC Davis with a practical hands-on approach. He is expecting to make our first Super Tuscan blend later this year.

Rich finish ending with firm tannins and a smoky aftertaste. This wine can easily be aged until 2012.

2005 "Ensemble" - Rhone Blend
Appellation: Amador County
Blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre,
Winemaker: David Fenech
Our first Rhone style blend has a rich garnet color with a hazelnut, cinnamon, floral, herb bouquet. The Syrah adds tannin, structure and body with a hint of smoke, but is managed by the lighter body and fruit, blackberry and cherries of the Grenache. The Mourvedre imparts a savory character that fills the mid-palate with fennel and leather. Together they impart a velvety finish to this wine that offers homage to the long time practice recognized in the Rhone Valley of France. The ideal of b...

Blend of Mourvedre, Syrah,

Appellation: Sierra Foothills
Viognier Blend
Blend of Viognier, Roussanne,
Winemaker: David Fenech
Pale straw in color, this wine has an aroma of honeysuckle, tropical fruits, melon, kiwi and grapefruit that are typical of a Viognier. The initial sweetness has papaya flavors, followed by pineapple and grapefruit on the rich mid palette. The Roussanne rounds out a long finish of subtle oak and minerality. Both grapes were stainless steel fermented, then the Roussanne was barrel aged for 6 months in new French oak. The crisp acid balance is palette cleansing, making this wine an excellent ac...
