Amity Vineyards is located in the North Willamette Valley region of Oregon. This region has been recognized as one of the premier Pinot noir producing areas in the world--rivaling the best in Burgundy. As one of Oregon's pioneer wineries, Amity Vineyards helped establish the area's reputation for world class Pinot noir as early as 1985, the year Robert Parker "Discovered Oregon", praising Amity Vineyards' 1983 Winemaker's Reserve Pinot noir.

Winemaker Myron Redford
|
Myron Redford, president and winemaker of Amity Vineyards, has been consistently recognized in the regional and national press as one of Oregon’s top Pinot noir, Pinot blanc, Riesling and Gewurztraminer producers. Myron became the first US producer of true Gamay noir in 1988, and Amity Vineyards is still the leader with this varietal. Myron produced Oregon’s first sulfite free wine from organically grown grapes in 1990. In 1995, Myron was once again ahead of the curve, recognizing Oregon’s potential to produce excellent Pinot blanc. Never one to follow in the footsteps of others, Myron was the first to phase out Chardonnay production, believing the growing period didn’t make sense in Oregon. Myron has contributed to the development of the Oregon wine industry as a mentor to other winemakers, a member of the Oregon Wine Advisory Board for eight years and a past president of the Oregon Winegrowers Association. Born in 1945 in Cedar City, Utah, Myron spent his growing years in Seattle, Washington, where he lived until moving to Amity, Oregon in 1974. He attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he obtained a BA in Political Science in 1968. Although winemaking runs in his veins, (Myron’s great, great uncle owned part of the Mormon Winery in Toqueville, Utah in the late 1800’s) it was a chance placement of diners at the University of Washington Faculty Club in 1970, that led to his winemaking career. There he overheard Lloyd Woodburne

2005 Oregon Gamay Noir
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
This Gamay has a structure for moderate aging but its voluptuousness entices immediate drinking. Amity Vineyards became the first American winery to produce true Gamay noir in 1988, and we continue to lead the industry with this varietal. Continuing in our tradition of whole cluster fermentation, also known as carbonic maceration the 2005 is yet another classic Gamay.

2002 Crannell Pinot Noir
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
We are very proud to announce our first Crannell single vineyard. The Crannell vineyard is a very early ripening site and it responded well to the weather in 2002 giving us beautifully ripe fruit with good acid levels to create an early maturing wine. This wine label is the fourth in our series of Iris labels done in conjunction with Schreiner’s Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon. The iris is called Parvin’s Pinot.

2004 Oregon Dry Gewurztraminer
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
Amity is an American pioneer in dry Gewürztraminer. We made our first dry Gewürztraminer in 1977 and have been making it ever since. Ours is one of the few dry Gewürztraminers in North America with sugar less than 1%. From 1992 – 2001 we were the largest producer of Gewürztraminer in Oregon. We have won 8 gold and many silver medals over the years for this European styled wine. We have also been recommended by Connoisseurs Guide, the Underground Wine Letter, the Northwest Palate, Wine Press Nort...

2005 Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
Our 2005 Pinot blanc is one of the richest and fullest bodied Pinot blancs that we have ever made. Aromas of melon, lavender and quince dominate the nose. In the mouth it is delightfully crisp and full bodied. It finishes with a long citrus/lemon after taste. It is an incredibly versatile wine going with traditional Chardonnay dishes such as veal or chicken and traditional dry Riesling dishes of scallops or crab. Our Pinot blanc is made in stainless tanks to emphasize the fruit and blended with A...

2004 Willamette Valley Estate Riesling
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
The center of Riesling is its acidity. To make a successful Riesling you must balance that acidity. The Germans do it by leaving residual sugar in the wine and the French, in Alsace do it by producing an elevated alcohol. In most years we make our “Dry” Rieslings” in the style of German Riesling from the Mosel Vally i.e with low alcohol (usually under 12%) and a small amount of residual sugar ( usually less than 10g/l- 1%) to balance the acidity. However in those years where we can get very ripe...

2005 Wedding Dance Riesling
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Winemaker: Myron Redford
This is our fourth Wedding Dance Riesling and the Wedding Dance Riesling takes its name from the "Wedding Dance" Iris exclusively cultivated at Schreiner's Iris Garden in Salem, Oregon. A nose loaded with citrus, honeysuckle, and hints of rose, leads into a luscious, full well balanced wine. This Riesling will match well with Prosciutto and melon, mild white fish, fragrant lemongrass Thai Shrimp and freshly baked bread.

2002 Late Harvest Oregon Riesling
Appellation: Willamette Valley
Dessert Wine
Winemaker: Myron Redford
Our 2002 Late Harvest Riesling is the by product of our production of our 2002 Select Cluster Riesling which was the first Riesling we ever made that would have qualified under German law as a Trockenberenauslese ( dry select berry wine). We bought 6 tons of heavily botrytis affected grapes from Chehalem Mountain Vineyards on November 4th 2002. Ideal botrytis, just clean dried and raisined berries without secondary infections of mold etc, happen very rarely and in very few locations. Chehalem Mo...
