A husband and wife team, Soil Scientist Joan Davenport and winemaker Gordon Taylor work with several excellent growers to produce ultra-premium red blends. Wine is made in the field and we do have a fantastic and unique growing region.

Winemaker Gordon Taylor
Born and raised on a beef and cash crop farm in Ontario Canada, he graduated from university to work in agricultural research from cash crops, genetics, soils and entomology. He eventually settled down working for Ocean Spray Cranberries as a process research engineer. He consults for juice processing plants and various wineries. Gordon approach is simple - "this is our brand and our image and each bottle of wine is my business card". Cheers

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Appellation: Horse Heaven Hills
  • Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec
  • Winemaker: Gordon Taylor
  • I love Horse Heaven Hills AVA wines. Our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has a spicy nose, a mixture of orange blossom, jasmine and leather. The fruit is all red: currant, raspberry and cherry. Although there is more than 75% new oak on this wine, the fruit holds its own all the way, giving up a bit of toasted almond at the end. I looked up the definition of "elegant" as this is the first thing to mind when I breathe in the heady aroma. The best descriptor was unusually effective and simple. In a very c... ...read more

    2009 Merlot
  • Appellation: Columbia Valley
  • Blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot
  • Winemaker: Gordon Taylor
  • Why is Washington Merlot so good? Perhaps the soft, easy drinking structure, coupled with the intense and welcoming blackberry and blueberry aromas. Washington Merlot's crimson red color marries with oak without being dominated by it. We all love comfort food and this is comfort wine. Daven Lore 2009 will go down in my mind as one of the best. It's bold, it's dark, with great vanilla, licorice and cinnamon notes. Blackberry, black currant and blueberry pie filling coat the glass and give a heady... ...read more

    2009 Aridisol Red
  • Appellation: Columbia Valley
  • Blend of Syrah, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot
  • Winemaker: Gordon Taylor
  • Our 2009 Aridisol is all Rhone: Syrah, Mourvedre and Durif (also known as Petite Sirah). Bold, deep purple-black in color, the heady blackberry and plum jam notes are layered in chocolate derived from time in northern Minnesota American oak barrels. The spice is light eucalyptus, cinnamon and black licorice with a pinch of tobacco. Aridisol, meaning "desert soils," is a testament to why I love Washington State wines.
