Winemaker Peter Fanucchi
|
When they say Peter Fanucchi is the Hands-on-winegrower it is because he really is! His story starts in the vineyard (as dose fine wine). He started learning to work with the vines in 1972. He has personally retrained each of the nearly 5,000 Old Zinfandel vines up off the ground where they had survived for about 80 years. After his father died in 1984 Peter started this quest on vines that had been slated to be torn out and to this date he personally prunes & tends each plant every year. Next to the old Zinfandel block Peter finished bringing what is now America's only block of Trousseau Gris to maturity and continues to maintain everything Organically.
