Our mission is to produce premium class wines, with exotic brands and provocative back labels that are just a bit risqué. We aim to please the palate, change the conversation and enhance the romantic experience of wine. Naked Winery produces Barbera, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Muscat, Riesling, Sangiovese and Syrah wines. Our vineyards are in the Applegate Valley, Columbia Valley, Rogue Valley, Willamette Valley and Wahluke Slope AVA’s. Naked Winery’s tasting room is located in Hood River about 60 miles east of Portland on the Columbia River separating Oregon and Washington State.

The 2006 growing season started with a mild spring, which was followed by a dry, hot summer. These factors combined with balanced canopies and small berries contributed to full flavors and excellent acid levels in the resultant wine. Scents of pressed flowers and black raspberry jam complement the satin tannin finish. We like Dominatrix with foie gras on toast points accompanied by Oregon Hazelnuts for added crunch.

2005 in particular gave way to early summer rains and cooler than normal temperatures in the fall, yielding near perfect acid/sugar ratios. Vixen is characterized by her very dark beautiful color. Smoky, rich blackberry and hints of ripe black cherry on the nose. Close your eyes and experience the subtle complexity of the Rhone Rogue Valley, as Vixen finishes with roasted espresso. A musty Gruyere or maple smoked Vermont Cheddar will do nicely with this fox.

The consistently warm 2003 growing season produced flavorful ripe fruit. This resulted in good sugar development, well balanced natural acids and intense flavors. This big cab has a smooth and round mouth feel. Time on oak and in the bottle was well spent as this wine offers a sweet progression of fruit, leading to an exceptionally long finish with supple tannins. This Missionary™ is a perfect accompaniment for death by chocolate cake or blackened prime rib.

A hot early and mid-growing season in 2004 followed by a cool fall created a longer harvest, resulting in wines with ripe, rich flavors. Aging in mostly American oak barrels with just enough French oak in the mix, keeps the palate balanced between spice and smokiness. Lower yields but higher quality characterized the 2004 vintage. A cold snap in June just as the emerging clusters were to set produced variable berry size. This combination of both big and small berries on the same cluster produced wine with a greater complexity. Ripe tropical fruits and pear flavors complement a subtle crisp finish that make Foreplay a surprisingly diverse wine. Start your experience by having this Chardonnay with lightly smoked oysters or salmon gravlax.

We were lucky to have just enough warm dry days after what seemed like a “month of rain” to allow the fruit to dehydrate while fully ripening with good sugar levels. Fermented in very cool temperatures this semi-sweet light wine is bountiful in summer fruit, ripe pineapple, honey drizzled apricots, with a light lemon finish. Feel free to pair this wine with a spicy curry or perhaps a light shrimp Pad Thai.
