Tertulia is a Spanish word meaning "a social gathering of friends." We chose this name for our winery because we believe there is no better way to enjoy a fine bottle of wine than gathered in the midst of friends. Here at Tertulia Cellars, our focus is to make wines of quality and distinction from the finest vineyards in both the Columbia and Walla Walla Valleys.

Our philosophy at Tertulia Cellars is simple; we take the best grapes and use the best winemaking techniques to create our wines. We believe great wine begins in the vineyard, with terroir having a great influence on the quality of the wine. Terroir is a sense of place, a summation of the geology, geography, climate and cultural practices of the people who farm the grapes. We believe that well-made wines are a reflection of the environment in which the grapes are grown. It is our goal to produce wines that display both the fruit’s unique characteristics as well as the vineyard’s distinct terroir.

We make each varietal separately, as the methods used in making each wine is unique to the variety of grape. Barrels are to our winemaking as spices are to cooking; accordingly we carefully select our barrels to compliment each individual wine. The finished products are then blended together to create synergy in the bottle. Once this synergy is achieved, we age the blend in the bottle until the wine reaches our ideal level of softness and elegance.

So, lift your glasses in a toast to friends, fine wine, and to the memories created when the two are combined.

    Cheers!

    2005 Red Table Wine
  • Appellation: Columbia Valley
  • Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot
  • Winemaker: Ryan Raber
  • Although this is labeled as a “red table wine” it is stylistically more akin to a claret or Bordeaux. Aromas of sweet oak, plums, raspberries, blackberries, pencil shavings, coco powder, caramel and even chocolate milk come wafting out of this wine. This is a very rich wine supported by firm tannins that are well integrated with the wine’s balanced acidity. The sweet oak flavors wrap around layers of spice box, cedar, cassis, blackberry and plum. This is an amazing wine with many years of life ... ...read more

  • Appellation: Columbia Valley
  • Viognier Blend
  • Blend of Viognier, Roussanne,
  • Winemaker: Ryan Raber
  • This wine delivers a bouquet of yeasty bread dough, yellow peaches, musk melon and avocado blossom. Lemon zest, melon, avocado, and stone fruit flavors evolve slowly and gracefully in the mouth with a well integrated but focused acidity. The addition of Roussanne creates depth and complexity along with a solid core of minerality that adds grace and harmony to the rich flavors.
