Before taking over for Paul Wofford, I worked as a cellarmaster at David Bruce Winery for over three years. Prior to David Bruce I was employed for a number of years by that Mad Cap Jester of Vinedom, Randall Graham at Bonny Doon Vineyards. As you can see, I have spent my entire wine career in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Bargetto Winery's Regan Estate Vineyards is nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains at 500 ft elevation. It's close proximity (7 miles) to the waters of the Pacific Ocean yields grapes with intense concentration of flavors and good acidic structure. Limited yields also contribute to the production of rich wine, capable of extended aging. This wine has a smooth tannin structure with flavor of Bing cherries.

2007 Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains
Appellation: Santa Cruz Mountains
Winemaker: Michael Sones
This 2007 Chardonnay is a blend of two clones of Chardonnay from the estate vineyard. Half of the wine is the Mount Eden clone, which develops later in the season than Clone 4, the other constituent. The blend of two clones exhibits aromas of melon, citrus and honey aromas. This follows through with additional flavors of toasty oak, butterscotch and vanilla from the oak aging and a viscous mouth feel with crisp finish.

It has been our good fortune to have been producing Pinot Grigio since before it was so fashionable in the States. This current release carries the delicate scent of ripe peaches and wetted slate. 100% pure, fresh pomegranate juice. The pomegranates were grown in orchards in the dry, arid portion of the southern San Joaquin Valley of California. The fruit was delicately pressed without macerating the rinds or seeds. This brilliant, ruby-colored wine displays a silky elegance in the flavor profile, punctuated by its spunky, acidic backbone. This wine is fantastic straight-up and chilled as either an aperitif or dessert wine.
