Sleeping Dog Wines was established in 2002 after 10 years of experimentation. All grapes are sourced from the Buoy Vineyards, in the Yakima Valley, directly adjacent to the winery. We emphasize the flavors of the grape varieties, and use only light addition of oak. We are small, and aim to stay that way so that we can maintain a close relationship with our customers and our wines.

Winemaker Larry Oates	Larry has held an interest in wine since supporting himself as a geology graduate student by working in a wine shop. After moving to the Yakima Valley with vineyards located across the road, he decided to venture into winemaking as a hobby. Like many hobbies, this one got a little out of control. After 10 years of reading, attending classes when available, assistance from friends, and much trial and error, Sleeping Dog Wines was established. The learning continues, as does the help from friends. The trials also continue, however, the errors now are usually capable of being fixed.
