Winemaker Gideon Bienstock
Our approach is "minimalist": No unnecessary processes or treatments. No commercial yeast inoculations. Levels of sulfur dioxide are kept to a minimum by extending the "sur lie" period, during which the wine is protected by its lees. We do not fine or "cold-stabilize" any of our wines, or filter any reds.

Red ------------- ---	1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Appellation: Sierra Foothills Winemaker: Gideon Beinstock Deep color. Rich, ripe, fruity, spicy nose; berries, black-cherry, cedar, wet earth. Ripe, concentrated flavors, with lots of juicey cherry/flowery fruit; very easy-going for a young Renaissance cab. Long, harmonious finish. This is exceptional quality for our “Estate” bottling. Red ------------- ---	1999 Merlot Estate Appellation: Sierra Foothills Winemaker: Gideon Beinstock Dark saturated purple-red. Big, ripe, inviting nose of plum, cherries, with a herbal/spicy side (rosemary and thyme), and a meaty (fresh lamb/musk) character. Medium-full bodied, with deep concentrated fruit, earthy/spicy complexity, and a lusty, alcoholic, expansive finish. Good length. This is one of our biggest wines of the great 1999 – a vintage noted for rich elegant fruit and smooth textures. Red ------------- ---	2005 Syrah Appellation: Sierra Foothills This was a top flight vintage for our Syrah, producing a big, dark wine, with a huge, meaty, sweaty, deeply spicy nose with complex seaweed, violet and ripe blueberry notes. The wine is full bodied, firm and structured on the attack, opening further back on the palate to reveal stunning depth and fruit concentration, and a long, spicy/minerally finish. Though lighter than our previous Zinfandel vintages, this is a great wine to drink by the glass or enjoy with a meal. Will age effortlessly for 6-8 years. White ---	2006 Viognier Appellation: Sierra Foothills Winemaker: Gideon Beinstock Cold Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Neutral oak ovals on the lees. Color is yellow-green, relatively pale for our Viognier. Quite an exuberant nose with gardenia, honeysuckle, white jasmine and melon. Medium bodied, very focused, but not at all heavy. Flavors of pomelo, grapefruit and guava –ripe. Refined and elegant in style with an alertness given by the acidity.
