Gouvion Vineyards, uniquely situated in the Santa Rosa Plateau area of Murrieta and specializing in top-quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varietals. Planted in 1999, Gouvion Vineyards is a sustainable farmed, boutique vineyard with 5.5 acres under production and situated on the slope of an extinct volcano facing the nearby Pacific Ocean. The vineyard is an exceptional site for the production of high-end Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varietals, benefiting from long sunny days, evening coastal fog and soil consisting of clay loam over basalt rocks. Wayne Gouvion, who along with sons Michael and Matthew, pioneered the development of vineyards in the Santa Rosa Plateau / Tenaja area of Murrieta. The family is currently in the midst of a substantial capital development program; building new estate and winery buildings on the Volcanic Ridge location. The estate is being constructed in a unique straw bale manner which will result in an extremely efficient and environmentally friendly structure, utilizing sustainable materials. In an attempt to further manage its environmental footprint, the vineyard will operate on electricity generated from its own on-site solar farm.
