Williams Selyem Winery began as a simple dream of two friends, Ed Selyem and Burt Williams, who pursued weekend winemaking as a hobby in 1979 in a garage in Forestville, California, and made their first commercial vintage in 1981. In less than two decades, Burt and Ed created a cult-status winery of international acclaim. Together they set a new standard for Pinot Noir winemaking in the United States, aligning Sonoma County's Russian River Valley in the firmament of the best winegrowing regions of the world. Today John and Kathe Dyson, who purchased the winery from Burt and Ed in 1998, carry on the passion for Pinot Noir winemaking without compromise.

Winemaker Bob Cabral
“If you wouldn’t want to eat it, then I don’t want to make wine out of it.” That is Bob Cabral’s rule of thumb for harvest workers hand-sorting grapes as they arrive from the vineyards. After nearly thirty commercial harvests, Bob is an experienced winemaker whose meticulousness and patience yield wines that are authentic expressions of each vineyard site.

2006 Pinot Noir
  • Appellation: San Benito County
  • Winemaker: Bob Cabral
  • An excellent vintage from our Estate vineyards near Mt.Harlan. Aromas of cherry pie, strawberry jam, mocha and dried herbs dominate the nose. This wine shows richer and broader tannins than the 2005 version, with overall better concentration and depth of fruit. A long finish of silky cherry and creamy oak completes this wine.
