Diamond Terrace is the result of a dream that started in 1988 when Maureen’s parents (Ed and Norma Doty, the founders of JMD Beverages in Hawaii) purchased a 10-acre vineyard on Howell Mountain as a second home that they called “Eagle Summit.” Maureen and her husband, Hal, visited them there often and dreamed about raising their family in the Napa Valley. They realized that dream in 1998 when they purchased a 16-acre parcel, with a 5-acre Cabernet vineyard, on Diamond Mountain, just south of the town of Calistoga. After establishing the Diamond Terrace label and producing 6 vintages of Diamond Mountain Cabernet they felt ready to add another wine to their portfolio. So in 2005 they brought their dream full circle by producing a Howell Mountain Cabernet from the Eagle Summit vineyard her parents had purchased. Winemaker Thomas Brown (Outpost, Schrader Cellars, Rivers-Marie) makes Diamond Terrace at Outpost Vineyards just up the road from their Howell Mountain property. Every year they select the best fruit from each of their vineyards to produce only 250 to 350 cases of each wine. They strive to create reserve wines that highlight the distinct characteristics of each of their mountain appellations.

  • This wine has really blossomed in bottle. A saturated garnet color is followed by a super expressive nose of graphite, white flowers and cassis. The blue and black fruit dominated palate contains crushed blackberries, blueberries, liquid mineral and wet gravel notes. The finish has lengthened substantially allowing the wine to showcase its hillside tannin component without turning dry.   • Acclaim: In 2008, Thomas made history as the youngest winemaker to achieve two "100 point" scores from Robert Parker for the '06 Schrader "Old Sparky" and CCS Cabernet Sauvignons. This is the first time two Cabs from the same producer in the same vintage have received two perfect scores from Parker.

  • Where the 2006 Diamond Mountain is a bit richer than its 2005 counterpart, this bottling is actually a bit pulled back from the previous edition. It still contains all the richer chocolate based elements of the first vintage but it shows a bit more Howell Mountain structure.   • This wine speaks to the strength of the vintage for Diamond Mountain. Darker than the 2005 with a blacker hue, the super expressive nose features red and black currants, white flowers and blueberries. The palate is richer than its predecessor containing more pure fruit flavors of crushed blackberries and blueberries accompanied by grilled bread, wet stones and pure cassis.   • After three vintages we finally feel we have our arms around this site. Darker than the two previous years with a saturated purple/black hue, the nose features a dense fruit focus of red and black currants, blackberries and blueberries.   • We have officially fallen in love with this vineyard. This site balances fruit and structure perfectly. It contains all the flesh we pull out of our valley floor sites without completely forsaking its Howell Mountain origin.
