Noggle Vineyards and Winery is a family-owned boutique winery in the secluded Old Long Valley region of the blossoming Lake County appellation. The six acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sits on a 1,500 foot bench below Round Mountain and above the North Fork of Cache Creek. A combination of mineral rich soil and hot summer temperatures with breezy, cool nights promotes a slow, even ripening of the grapes. Michael Noggle brings the fruit-forward drama of the hot mountain landscape and crystal blue skies into the bottle. The result in the glass is a beautiful bouquet of deep berry, black cherry and chocolate in a structured and balanced wine with a lingering silky finish. Winemaker Michael Noggle
|
An award-winning winemaker with over 30 years experience in growing grapes and making wine. Educated at CAl Poly, San Luis Obispo, California, his early aspirations were to become a large animal veterinarian. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences and his Master's Degree in General Agricultural Sciences. While waiting to enroll in the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis, he discovered his true passion for growing grapes and producing hand-crafted wines. He redirected his academic career and ultimately achieved a degree in Viticulture and Enology from Napa Valley College. He is now realizing a passion he's been nurturing with a tenacious grip for over thirty years. He produces stellar, hand-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc wines. |
