As a fourth generation owner and grower of Periano Estate Vineyards, I traditionally don my red shorts on April 1st of each spring and do not take them off untill ALL Lodi Appellation grapes are harvested in late fall. This is my sacrifice to the "weather gods" to protect the Lodi Growers from spring floods and harvest rains.

A blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is a modern style exhibiting generous body and fruit flavor. The bouquet gives plenty of spicy plum character, from the Syrah fruit, with the Cabernet Sauvignon contributing rich black currant and mint aromas. The palate of this medium bodied wine is rich and soft, complex with a subtle oak flavor and a soft tannin finish.

Deep rich color, with a purple edge. Powerful aroma of ripe fruits, including berries and plums, with delicate notes of vanilla. Big and rich on the palate, the wine combines softer tannins with a long and luscious finish. Ideal with roasted meats, wild game, or richer stews and pastas.

Sweet violets, red current, black olive, and oak resonating with roasted vanilla bean provide the welcome to this eclectic blend of equal parts of four of the best red varietals of Lodi: Syrah, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouchet and Mourvédre. Deep, dark and brawny with creamy black cherry and a lingering finish that would be a perfect match to a hunk of hickory smoked ham.
