Maryhill reserves have varying levels of oak and the kiss of it given here is delightful. Black cherry, tobacco, dark chocolate and mint swirl in this slightly smoked easy drinking wine. This two-time gold medal winning wine opens with aromas of raspberry, oak and smoke mingled with black cherry. On the palate a hint of caramel gives way to coffee and white pepper with good dark fruit notes. Containing a nice complexity with a medium body and soft acidity this wine is a food friendly offering as well as being very pleasant on its own. The smooth finish is dark toffee mixed with a bit of cranberry and plum. This is truly an easy drinking, crowd-pleasing wine.
