From the old block of Baufránkisch (“old vine” Lemberger) from the respectable Red Willow Vineyard, planted in 1979, which was 3 years barrel aged in equal parts French and American oak, 42% new. It shows flavors and aromas of dried cherry, cocoa/mocha and thyme and finishes in toasted vanilla, chalky tannins and generous acids. This could be the ultimate pizza and Italian pasta wine. Will age well as has been typical for Kana’s past “Old Vines” programs.
