As a fourth generation owner and grower of Periano Estate Vineyards, I traditionally don my red shorts on April 1st of each spring and do not take them off untill ALL Lodi Appellation grapes are harvested in late fall. This is my sacrifice to the "weather gods" to protect the Lodi Growers from spring floods and harvest rains.

The aromas penetrate your sense, with black fruits, chocolate, licorice and smoky tones. The mouth fills with a mix of cherries, dark plums, cocoa and toasty smoke, while the tannins round out the palate without intruding. A blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is a modern style exhibiting generous body and fruit flavor. The bouquet gives plenty of spicy plum character, from the Syrah fruit, with the Cabernet Sauvignon contributing rich black currant and mint aromas. The palate of this medium bodied wine is rich and soft, complex with a subtle oak flavor and a soft tannin finish.

This 100% Syrah is the perfect expression of our Gill Creek Vineyard, oriented at 47.5˚ from north for optimal, even ripening. We specially selected only the best 8 barrels from the vineyard, making only 175 cases of this smooth, mouth-filling wine. You’ll find a purity of bold, focused flavors of concentrated blackberry jam and crîme de cassis with toasted oak, and a very long rich and spicy black licorice finish.
