2005 Red Blend "The Callahan"
  • Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
  • Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec
    a Maurice Cellars
(Walla Walla, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Anna Schafer
  • The 2005 Red Blend is a delicate, yet impressive blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. At first sight, the wine is a garnet red with deep purple hues emerging around the corners. In the nose, rose petal is delicately framed by plum, cigar-box spice and cassis. The mouth is smooth, rich, full-bodied, round with supple tannins. The plum and cherry notes really follow through and make this meaty wine fairly juicy at the same time. It backs w... ...read more

  • Dedication is a red wine blend with complexity and finesse, suitable for family meals and for specia occasions. With deep gratitue and respect we are dedicating this wine and a portion of the proceeds to Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. DiStefano Winery
(Woodinville, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Hillary Sjolund
  • A blend of terrior from 6 different vineyards across the Columbia Valley, this wine shows elegant black and red fruit on the nose dusted with a bit of black pepper, cedar and vanilla. A touch of violets and blackberry mixed with a bit of cherry cola, cocoa and just a pinch of mint. There is an element of earth and dried figs and dried cherries fold nicely into the many layers. Plenty of chewy tannin on the palate with a slightly toasted finish.

(Wenatchee, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Jan Mathison
  • Deep ruby in color, the wine begins with a candid cherry core with notes of cassis. A slight bacon aroma is in the background. On the palate, rich chocolate envelops the sweet cherry focal point and there is a detectable nutmeg spice towards the end of the sip. Full bodied with fine tannins. This should drink well for several years.

  • Winemaker: Jan Mathison
  • The grapes for this wine come from the hills above Wenatchee and is a wonderful first effort for these young vines. Dark cherry, plum, and clove show both in the nose and on the palate. The body is well under-pinned with smooth tannins and a slight acidity that gives it a lift. The wine lingers elegantly on the finish.

  • Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot,
    Three Rivers Winery
(Walla Walla, WA) -- (Winery Info & All Wines)
  • Winemaker: Holly Turner
  • Meritage is a category of handcrafted wines blended from traditional Bordeaux grape varietals. Meritage (rhymes with “heritage”) is an invented word, neither French nor English, that combines “merit” and “heritage.” Our 2005 Red Meritage is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot. This pinnacle of blends shows blackberry, a hint of cedar and nice coffee notes. Firm, well focused tannins will allow this wine to age elegantly into the future.

  • Winemaker: Celia Masyczek
  • This elegant Cabernet from high elevation vineyards shows the tremendous complexity of the Howell Mountain District. Sweet cocoa and cinnamon, spicy cedar bough and forest floor aromas, dark raspberries and perfume-like boysenberries all combine in a swirling, ever-changing display of aromas. On the palate, the entry is soft but laden with fruit, and then broadens to display the formidable structure and power of this very ripe Cabernet. • The 2005 vintage produced some very concentrated, beautiful wines. This Cabernet Sauvignon is quite dark in color and shows off lush, ripe black cherries, plums, and a brambly wild blackberry fruit character that is distinct to Howell Mountain. • Winemaker: Cathy Corison
  • The 2005 Corison Cabernet is classic and refined with great bones. September that year was unseasonably chilly and harvest was a full month later than normal. Time on the vine allowed the development of the full range of flavors that Cabernet can achieve (red and blue fruits grading into the darker, purple and black notes) at moderate alcohol. Cold nights promoted great natural acidity. Inviting aromas jump out of the glass. Cherry pie, complete with allspice, nutmeg and cardamom, dominates the ... ...read more

  • 2007 was the first of three droughty years with only 60% of normal rainfall. Warm weather in March resulted in an early bud-break but a long, moderate to cool summer lengthened the ripening season nicely and yielded wonderful natural acidity in the grapes. After a short heat spike at the end of August the weather turned cool again for the rest of the season. Picking was leisurely. It was one of those vintages that made winemaking look easy. • Budbreak came very late in 2006 due to cold, rainy weather that continued well into spring. By early June, the sun finally came out and the vines began to bloom and set fruit. Even, cool weather arrived at last with August (in the nick of time for flavor and color development) and continued through a very late harvest for a nearly perfect ripening season.
